Heilwig von Lengenfeld

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heilwig von Lengenfeld (also written Heilwiga ) (* unknown; † 1160 ) was one of the daughters of Friedrich III. von Pettendorf and his wife Heilbirg.

Heilwig was married to Count Gebhard I. von Leuchtenberg († 1146). She was thus ancestral mother of the Landgraves of Leuchtenberg, whose rule lasted until 1646; afterwards the possessions came to the Wittelsbachers through the last of the family, Maximilian Adam .

Since she and her sister Heilika von Lengenfeld were the only children from their parents' marriage, after their death the rich inheritance of the Lords of Pettendorf went to the Landgraves of Leuchtenberg, to whom the rule of Waldeck fell through this marriage . The other possessions of the Pettendorfer came due to the marriage of Heilika with Otto V. von Scheyern to the Wittelsbacher .

Heilwig is buried with her husband Gebhardt and other family members in Ensdorf Abbey.
