description

It stands on a rectangular floor plan with a length of approx. 21 m and a width of approx. 10 m with the gable end facing Lienener Damm in Ostbevern. There a Tennentor identifies it as a typical Münsterlander Kotten . The masonry is half-timbered , the gable is made of wood. The entire building faces east-west, with the residential wing in the east and the cattle wing in the west. The entrance to the residential wing leads along the north side of the house.

history

The house was built in the 19th century by the Poggenburg family, who lived there until the middle of the 20th century. Johannes Poggenburg , who later became the 72nd Bishop of Münster, was born there on May 12, 1862 . When seven members of the Poggenburg family died in the bombing of Münster on October 10, 1943, a memorial stone was placed in the chapel dedicated to the painful mother . In the 1950s the building was used as a barn and warehouse. In 1995 it was given to the Heimatverein Ostbevern eV at a price of DM 1. The house could be converted into a home through an expensive renovation, which was also borne by the voluntary help of the association members. A social room and a local museum have been set up there. In this are u. a. a blacksmith's workshop, a shoemaker's workshop, a carpenter's workshop, a country school class, a dairy business. The registry office of Ostbevern makes marriages possible.
