Heinkel HeS 011
The Heinkel HeS 011 was a jet engine under development by the German manufacturer Heinkel .
history
Almost all designs of jet propulsion aircraft that were developed towards the end of the Second World War in the Third Reich were to be equipped with this engine . The engine was also intended for the experimental P.1101 aircraft from Messerschmitt AG .
The first prototypes were tested on the test bench at the beginning of 1944. However, problems with the complicated compressor delayed construction. The project never got beyond the experimental stage. A propeller turbine variant of the HeS 011 with the designation Heinkel HeS 021 was also planned . 3300 PSe were given as a comparative wave power .
functionality
The HeS 109-011 was designed with five compressor stages under the direction of Hans Joachim Pabst von Ohain - the first stage in axial design, the second as a radial compressor and the last three again as an axial compressor . This arrangement was called diagonal construction. In contrast to most other jet engines of the time, such as the Jumo 004 , an annular combustion chamber and no individual combustion chambers were used. The turbine was equipped with hollow-chamber turbine blades and cooled with compressor air.
