Heinlaid is an Estonian island in the Baltic Sea . It is located southeast of the island of Hiiumaa , about five kilometers from the port of Heltermaa ( Hiiumaa municipality ).
Heinlaid was first mentioned in 1620 as Hainalaidsholm . The uninhabited island is 1.62 km². It has been used many times throughout history as pastureland for sheep and cattle . Today it is forested in many places.
