Heinrich-Schmitz-Platz
The Heinrich-Schmitz-Platz is a place in the Union neighborhood in Dortmund .
It is located south of Rheinische Strasse at the southern end of Unionstrasse, only a few meters from the Heinrich Schmitz Education Center. The square is dominated by the Unionstrasse underground station. In the south it borders on the Westpark . Heinrich-Schmitz-Platz was named in 2014 after the teacher Heinrich Schmitz (1812–1865). The street sign reads: Heinrich-Schmidt-Platz, * July 3rd, 1812 † July 11th, 1865, the faithful teacher and noble philanthropist . A branch of the Dortmund large tunnel system runs under the square .
