from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich Hufnagel (* between 1430 and 1440 probably in Augsburg; † around 1490) was a German goldsmith working in Augsburg .

Life

Heinrich Hufnagel was the son of Heinrich Hufnagel the Elder, who also worked as a goldsmith . Ä. He was probably trained by his father and from around 1466 he was a master goldsmith. Of his works, only the signed and dated 1482, cast in silver, embossed, engraved and partially gilded statuette of the "Mother of God from the Cistercian Abbey of Kaisheim" can be identified, which is now in the Berlin sculpture collection . This repeats a statue of the "Mother of God" in private ownership in Vienna (as of 2006) , which is generally assigned to Michel Erhart .
