Heldsbach is a place in Papua New Guinea , on the coast of the Solomon Sea , six kilometers from Sattelberg and twenty kilometers from Finschhafen . Administratively, Heldsbach belongs to the Kotte Rural Local-Level Government Area of the Morobe Province .

In 1904 Johann Flierl founded Heldsbach as a mission station for the Neudettelsauer Mission Society in what was then the German colony of German New Guinea . He named the station, which developed into an important school station, after the missionary Friedrich Held, who died in 1901 of blackwater fever .

The Heldsbach Village Life Training School (HVLTS) in Heldsbach is a training center for church leaders in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea .
