Example of pure, grayscale 1 / f noise (luminance noise)

Luminance noise (also known as brightness noise ) occurs when there are independent random signals in the brightness channel of a digital image . The picture on the right gives a two-dimensional example of pure luminance noise with a typical spectral power density distribution in which the signal amplitude decreases with a 1 / f characteristic ( 1 / f noise ).
