The Helmut Rahn sports facility is a sports facility in the western Essen district of Frohnhausen .

character

In February 2010 the facility formerly known as the Raumerstraße district sports facility was renamed in honor of the national soccer player Helmut Rahn , who once lived here .

The sports complex, in which the Essen sports clubs SC Phönix Essen , VfB Frohnhausen 1912 and SC Türkiyemspor Essen play, offers a stadium with a grass pitch and floodlights for around 8,000 spectators, two artificial turf pitches with floodlights, an ash court, tennis courts, two sports halls and a handball performance center . The sports facility is supplemented by the roller sports arena of the SHC Rockets Essen 1985 club .

On February 19, 2020, the City Council of Essen decided to convert the existing natural turf into a hybrid turf and to create a new synthetic running track. For this, 1.08 million euros are estimated.
