Helmuth Mylius

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Helmuth Mylius (also Helmut Mylius ) was a German industrialist, leader of the Radikaler Mittelstand party and from 1931 to 1933 publisher of the Frankfurt weekly newspaper Die Parole des Radikaler Mittelstandes .

Life

From July 1931 to March 1933 Mylius published the magazine Die Parole des Radikal Mittelstandes . In 1932 he ran for the Radical Middle Class party in the Reichstag election on November 6, 1932 in the Leipzig constituency.

Mylius, together with a group of people with right-wing or right-wing extremists, prepared a coup against Adolf Hitler in Berlin in 1934 . The co-conspirators were among others members of the organizations Jungdeutscher Orden , Black Front and Stahlhelm . With Hermann Ehrhardt , Mylius organized the smuggling of former members of the Ehrhardt Brigade into the SS and the collection of information about Hitler's habits and the processes in the Reich Chancellery . A total of around 160 armed people took part in the preparations.

The coup did not take place, among other things because Mylius questioned the reliability of his own people who had smuggled in and because the Gestapo infiltrated the group in return. In 1935 Mylius was accused of conspiracy to murder Adolf Hitler. Due to the influence of his friend General Erich von Manstein , he managed not to be arrested.

Mylius joined the army at the beginning of the war and served as second quartermaster with General Busch with the rank of major in the reserve.
