As Hemielytren or half ceiling (sing the Hemielytron;. Gr .: hémisys = half, in compositions = half; Elytron = envelope ceiling) which are front wing of bugs (Heteroptera), respectively. Heteroptera means as much as different winged and describes this characteristic, common characteristic of the representatives of this group of insects.

The wings are, in contrast to the wings of other insects , such as. B. the elytra of the beetle (Coleoptera), in the bugs about half to two thirds hardened ( sclerotized ) and consist of a coarse front area, the corium , and a membranous, thin rear membrane . On the inside of the corium there is a strip-shaped area, which is called the clavus , the often wedge-shaped tip of the hardened part on the wing's leading edge is called the cuneus . Veins can usually be seen on the wing membrane, which can be important for determining the species. The type of subdivision of the hardened and membranous parts is also an important characteristic for distinguishing between the bedbug families.

The wings lie flat on the abdomen, with the membrane-like wing tips overlapping. The membranous hind wings are located under the forewings. The front and rear wings are coupled to one another in flight.
