history

The movement was founded around 1896/97 by the farmer Andrei Cherkassov in the Astrakhan governorate . It was named after the Old Testament Enoch , whose return was expected at the end of the world . She rejected the tsar's rule and the Church in Russia.

In 1900 they saw signs of the rule of the Antichrist and the arrival of the prophet Elijah in the form of John of Kronstadt , as well as of Enoch and the apostle John . They caused considerable uncertainty and fear in the rural population.

In 1915, many members joined Seventh-day Adventists . There were still supporters of the movement in Stalingrad Oblast in the 1930s.
