Life

Viscount Hood was born on March 16, 1958, the son of the 7th Viscount and Diana Maud Lyttelton. He studied law in Edinburgh at the university there . He successfully completed his studies in 1981 with a Masters of Art degree . He then went on to train as a solicitor and took the corresponding exam in 1987. Hood has been married to Flora Casement since 1991, with whom he has three sons and a daughter.

Membership in the House of Lords

His father, the 7th Viscount Hood, died on October 2, 1999. Henry Hood inherited his title of nobility, namely the Viscountcy Hood created in 1796 , the Hood of Catherington baronies created in 1782 and 1795 , and the Hood Baronetcy of Catherington created in 1778 . Associated with the Viscountcy and Barony of 1795 was a hereditary seat in the House of Lords . However, he lost this inherited seat on November 11, 1999 when the House of Lords Act came into force , as he was not one of the elected hereditary peers who remained in the House of Lords . However, in the following years he tried in vain to move up from the circle of the remaining hereditary lords in by-elections for members who had left the house. In 2005 he received only four votes, in July 2011 after Lord Ampthill's resignation only six votes, in December 2014 only three votes and in February 2015 once four and once five votes.
