Hermann Martin took part in the 1906 Olympic Intermediate Games in Athens in nine disciplines. With the military revolver from the model year 1874, it took third place behind Jean Fouconnier and Raoul de Boigne . Like Fouconnier and de Boigne, he hit all 30 targets, but in contrast to Fouconnier with 219 rings and de Boigne with 216 rings, he only got 215 rings. In the other disciplines, Martin placed outside the podium and only came in the top ten in two other pistol disciplines.
