The Herz-Jesu-Kirche Bochum-Hamme is a Roman Catholic sacred building from the late 19th century.

history

The history of the Catholic parish Herz Jesu in the Bochum district of Hamme begins with the large parish division of the Bochum Propsteigemeinde St. Peter and Paul in 1888. The "Landgemeinde Herz Jesu Hamme" also belonged to the seven new parishes that emerged at that time. The church and parsonage were already there when the parish was founded, as the Hammer Catholics had already bought a piece of land in 1886 and started building their own church. The architect was Hermann Wielers . The church was partially destroyed in World War II. In a record-breaking time, the Hammer Catholics rebuilt it in time for the Catholic Day in Bochum in 1949. In 1949 the three new cast steel bells with the tone sequence c'-es'-f 'rang for the first time.

As early as 1891, the Catholic parish Herz-Jesu in Hamme made part of its property available for the construction of a Joseph House. There, among other things, a “toddler custody school” was set up by three merciful sisters of Saint Vincent de Paul, also known as the Vincentians.

In February 1976 a new building was erected and inaugurated, which has been the home of the kindergarten ever since. Sisters of the “Sisters of Mercy of St. Vincenz von Paul ”directed him until 1986.
