Drellcorsets from Hessing

The Hessing corset is an orthopedic corset that was developed by Friedrich Hessing in the 19th century . It is built on an iliac crest bracket and consists of padded steel rails that can be supplemented with neck and arm rests. The corset was used to correct spinal deformities (cf. kyphosis , scoliosis ).

The literary figure Max Brod described his kyphosis disease and his personal experiences with the corset treatment of his childhood in an autobiographical novel.
