Highland Records was a Californian record label that released over 80 singles between 1959 and around 1969, mainly in the area of soul , but also in late rockabilly . The label belonged to the media company Malynn Enterprises and was distributed by West Pico Merchandising .

The most famous artists of the label were Larry Atkins , The Penetrations , Soul Patrol , Bobby Montgomery , Mike and the Sensations , Larry Bright , Johnny Guitar Watson and Kell Osborne with his hit Law Against a Heartbreaker . Few artists were more closely associated with the label and released more than one single, including Mike and the Sensations, Al Casey and Rosie and the Originals . The latter had a number five hit in the American charts with Angel Baby in 1960 and thereby helped finance the young label in its early days. As an independent label , Highland preferred to work with independent producers who licensed their master tapes to Highland for release. Contracts with artists were apparently not concluded.

Some of the single appeared several times as reissues in different colors. The company Oldies Music of Hollywood also re-launched a number of the Highland editions.
