history

1986-1990

The Hilden Indians, a forerunner of the Wains, were founded on Saturday January 18, 1986. In their first league year they took part in the regional league as a founding member of the regional association BSV NRW and as the 18th club registered with the federal association DBV. In the second season after the foundation, the promotion to the association league took place. In 1989 5 young Indian players took part in the 6th Youth World Cup in Tokyo / Japan and the club was expanded to include a softball team. The Indians' venue at that time was on Grabenstrasse in the west of Hilden. In 1989 the men's team was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga and the club sent 5 players to the European Junior Championships in Leeuwarden / Netherlands and 9 players to the 7th World Youth Championship in Tokyo / Japan.

On March 16, 1990, the Hilden Wanderers were founded. In the first year of the club's history, they played for promotion to the association league. The Hilden Indians rose in the same year from the 2nd Bundesliga back to the association league.

1991-1995

Due to the restructuring of the baseball leagues in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Hilden Wanderers and the 2nd men's team of the Indians were forced to relegate to the newly established district league in 1991. With Tim Jüntgen and René Strauß, two Wanderers players were appointed to the B national team in the same year. The Indians youth team became NRW champions in 1992 and 3rd in the German championship. The amalgamation of the Wanderers and the Indians to form the Hilden Wains takes place in 1993. Due to problems to keep the venue, the club became a division of SV Hilden Ost in 1995. In the same year, three players, Silvia Kubat, Tina Hagena and Nicole Buchert, were nominated for the NRW softball selection team and Christopher Gerlach, one player for the NRW student selection team.

1996-2000

The second half of the 1990s, initiated by the 10th year of the club, was not very successful for the Hilden Wains baseball players. After a fresh start in the district league in 1997, caused by the departure of many players after the 1996 season, the men's team made it to the district league. The women of the softball team rose to the national league and reached the semi-finals in the cup. In the following year the men were relegated to the district league and the women celebrated their 10th year in Hilden. In 1999 the youth team won all games in the association league, became champions and drove to the German championship, where the young players reached fourth place. The new millennium brought the Hilden Wains an advancement of the women in the softball association league and the juniors reached the second place in the table, which was sufficient for a subsequent nomination in the youth association league. Under the leadership of Walter Kirchhoff, the "AG Wains-Field" was founded in 2000 with the aim of finding an independent baseball field for the Hilden Wains. In 2013, the Kemperdick sports field in Hochdahl was played.
