Himmelchen ( Polish: niebko, widoczek, sekret, aniołek - little heaven, view, secret, angel) is a creative children's game that emerged in the second half of the twentieth century . It was played mainly in Poland , especially in big cities.

execution

The game consists in making some kind of collage . This is done on the floor, usually in a secluded location, e.g. B. the corners of the yard or school yard , a small cavity is created in which the child designed a visual theme with various small objects. Then it is covered with a piece of glass and set in the ground. The elements used are usually small flowers, leaves, beads, pieces of colored foil or packaging. The viewer, who is the only person exclusively privy to see the hiding place, sometimes had to use his own saliva to clean that part of the surface of the earth.

effect

The color composition in the recess in the floor, which arises as if by chance through the system and then viewed through the thin glass, creates the effect of a lively, often surprising contrast to its surroundings. The game was especially popular with city kids at a time when television was not yet widespread and computer games did not yet exist. It gave the children the opportunity to create art, to have created a secret, increased by attractiveness, which could only be shared with the initiated.
