The Hingol National Park is located on the Hingol River , on the Makran coast in the Pakistani province of Baluchistan and was founded in 1997. The area has been under special protection since 1988. The total area covers around 6100 km², making it the largest national park in the country. The Dhrun Game Reserve is also part of the park.
Landscape and vegetation
The vegetation is very diverse and ranges from tropical forests in the north to dry mountain areas in the west. Most of the park is occupied by coastal semi-deserts. In addition, the park includes parts of the estuary of the Hingol River.
Wildlife
The park is home to 3000 wild goats , 1500 steppe wild sheep and over 1200 Indian gazelles . Other animals in the park include jackals, red foxes, reed cats and porcupines. Leopards are extremely rare, striped hyenas and wolves are on the verge of extinction. Marsh crocodiles still live in the Hingol River .
Among the birds, collar busters and gray pelicans are regular guests of the park.
