from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Historical Association is a not-for-profit history association in Great Britain that was founded in 1906 and primarily looks after the interests of history teachers and advocates the public perception of historical science in Great Britain.

They were founded as a complement to the Royal Historical Society for teaching in schools, especially for the then relatively new curriculum subject history. Similar societies for other school subjects such as Mathematics (Mathematical Association 1870) and Classics Association (Classics Association) had already been established.

In 2013 they had around 5,000 full members. They publish the journals History (scientific articles), The Historian , International Journal of Historical Learning, Teaching and Research , Teaching History and Primary History .
