From Monday to Friday, the focus of the museum's work is on educational programs for schools run by permanent staff. During the weekends and during the school holidays, part-time living history actors in historical clothing populate the site to reinforce the lively impression. As part of themed tours, they demonstrate typical historical activities such as grinding grain, making fire, baking bread, forging. In doing so, the guides set great store by highlighting the differences and parallels between the various epochs and the present. There is a daily tour for all visitors. In addition, various workshops are offered that can be booked by groups. Once a year in spring, a large Viking market was held until 2009, at which living history groups from different countries, jugglers, musicians and others made a visit to the museum a particularly impressive experience. In contrast to the well-known medieval festivals, emphasis is placed on the greatest possible authenticity .
