The hobbytronic (until 2004 "HobbyTronic and Computerschau") was an exhibition for electronics , which was initially aimed primarily at hobbyists in contrast to industrial trade fairs . It was later expanded to include home computers , PCs , software and games , which ultimately dominated by far. The fair took place annually from 1978 to 2008 in Dortmund's Westfalenhallen .

Due to the sharp decline in the participation of providers and declining visitor numbers, the exhibition took place for the first time in 2005 in combination with Intermodellbau , an exhibition for model making and model sports. Since that year the “German CaseMod Championship” has also been held at Hobbytronic . In 2005 the fair counted around 50,000 visitors and around 100 exhibitors.

The last time the exhibition took place was from April 16 to 20, 2008 on an area of around 8,000 m². In 2009 the Hobbytronic was canceled at short notice because too few registrations were received from exhibitors.
