The Vidzeme University (in Latvian: Vidzemes augstskola ) is a state university based in the Latvian city of Valmiera . The Vidzeme University is named after the Vidzeme region.
Vidzeme University was founded in 1996 and has been a state-recognized university since 2001 . Between 1996 and 2004 Artis Pabriks was rector of the newly founded university. The current rector of the university is Vija Daukšte (as of 2010).
