Melody of the bride's song from the opera Lohengrin by Richard Wagner

As a wedding march is usually referred to two works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy or Richard Wagner , who to accompany wedding ceremonies are extremely popular:

  • Wedding march (after the end of the fourth act) from the incidental music A Midsummer Night's Dream by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (op. 61 No. 9, in the concert version No. 7). The piece comments on the triple wedding of the couples Theseus and Hippolyta, Demetrius and Helena, and Lysander and Hermia, after Pucks and Oberon's love spells were lifted.
  • Faithful led (also bride song ) , choir from the opera Lohengrin by Richard Wagner at the beginning of the third act. In the opera, the piece accompanies the newly wed Elsa von Brabant and Lohengrin entering the bridal chamber to the cheering of the people just before the start of the wedding night, which however leads to the irrevocable separation of the couple the following day.
