Hockey Club Essen 1899
The HC food 99 is one of four hockey clubs of the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Essen .
The club, which plays in the colors green and white, is mainly known for its women's team, which plays in the hall in the Bundesliga .
The club originally emerged from the hockey department of the Essen sports club founded on March 3, 1922. On November 14, 1969, for financial reasons, an independent department was founded under the name "Hockey Club Essen 1899 eV in the Essener Sportgemeinschaft 99/06 eV". The club played its first game on June 5, 1922 against Westfalia Herne .
The sporting highlights of the men's teams were promotions to the 2nd Bundesliga field and hall at the end of the 1990s. Today the men's team plays in the Regionalliga West .
