The Hokuriku Gakuin University ( Jap. 北陸学院大学 , Hokuriku gakuin daigaku ) is a private university in Japan . In 2008 it received university status under its current name. Its headquarters are in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture . The abbreviation for the university is Kita Tan .

history

Today's Christian university goes back to the first private school for girls founded in 1885. The missionary of the American Presbyterian Church Mary Kathrine Hesser (1853-1894) is considered the founder . In 1886 the Hokuriku Gakuin Daiichi Kindergarten was added. The girls 'school was renamed the Private Hokuriku Girls' School . In 1947, as part of a reform, the Hokuriku Gakuin Junior High School was founded and in 1950 the Hokuriku Gakuin Junior College and the Hokuriku Gakuin Kindergarten (Kitazawa Shimo Honda Town). In 1953 the Hokuriku Nutrition Academy (Kakigihata, Kanazawa City) was founded and in 1961 the Hokuriku Gakuin Elementary School (Hibaicho, Kanazawa City).

In 2008 the university was founded with the Faculty of Human Studies. To this end, the Hokuriku Gakuin Junior College was restructured.

Faculty of Comprehensive Human Sciences

Regional center for educational development

Established in 2008, the Regional Education Development Center (REDeC) is a research center affiliated with Hokuriku Gakuin University that conducts research in the disciplines of child rearing, English and English teaching, psychology, social affairs, nutrition, etc. in order to unite with the results Contribute to the local community. Hokuriku Gakuin University Junior College
