Holthausen (Waltrop)

Holthausen is one of seven farmers in the town of Waltrop in the Recklinghausen district . Holthausen is north of the city of Waltrop. adjacent to the city of Datteln . To the west is the Oberwiese farming community , to the east is Lippe . In 2014 the population, together with Lippe, was 844.

During the National Socialism in Germany there was a maternity camp in Holthausen for children of Eastern workers . It was probably the largest maternity camp in Germany.

Transport links

The Vestische trams cross the district with the SB 24 line and the 14 night express. In addition, the Oberhausen-Osterfeld-Hamm railway runs through Holthausen. However, passenger traffic is currently suspended.

The Datteln-Hamm Canal runs through Holthausen.
