Homo pulsans
Homo pulsans (Latin for pulsating person ) is a symptom of aortic valve insufficiency . The patient has "flinging arterial pulses "; during the physical examination of the patient, jumping pulses are noticed on the neck, the elbows and groins, and on the wrists.
The pronounced pulsations arise as a result of the large forward volume in the systole and the backward movements of the diastole of the blood.
