Hoplomachy
The hoplomachy ( ancient Greek ὁπλομαχία hoplomachia "fight with heavy weapons", also transferred "tactics", " art of war ") was a fencing sport with lance and sword in Hellenistic Greece . It was mainly run by young people at grammar schools , was part of paramilitary training for young people and was part of public sports competitions. The Romans developed the gladiator from this , which they called Hoplomachus .
