Horizon europe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Horizon Europe is the planned seven-year scientific research framework program of the European Union , which is to replace the current program Horizon 2020 . The European Commission has developed and approved a plan for Horizon Europe which aims to increase EU science spending by 50% to around EUR 100 billion in 2021-2027. The European Parliament is even calling for the budget to be increased to EUR 120 billion in order to catch up with research spending by the US and China . Independent observers believe that the final approval of the funding after long negotiations with the European Parliament and theEU member states will be significantly lower. In recent years, EU Commissioner Carlos Moedas, together with many interest groups, has tried to work towards a larger EU science budget. In order to create political support for the budget increase, he wants to use American marketing ideas from Moonshots to bundle research efforts and increase public interest.
