Horos (cameo tailor)
Horos ( ancient Greek Ὅρος ) may have been an ancient cameo cutter . Its existence is uncertain.
His name is known from a cameo with the mask of a Silenus . Since the name of Horos was written with an omicron instead of the expected omega , doubts arose early on whether the cameo was actually of ancient origin.
A second cameo of a horos in the gem collection of the abbot Carlo Antonio Pullini, which is supposed to represent the head of Tiberius , is recorded by Charles William King .
