The Hospital Curry Cabral is a hospital in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon . The hospital is part of the Centro Hospitalar Lisboa Central , the Central Lisbon Hospital Region, one of the six local hospital groups in the Lisboa e Vale do Tejo Region ( Região de Saúde de Lisboa e Vale do Tejo ) of the Portuguese public health system, Serviço Nacional de Saúde .

It is the main hospital for transplants and infectious diseases. It serves as a teaching hospital for the medical faculties of the University of Lisbon (FMUL) and the Universidade Nova (FCML).

history

It was inaugurated as Hospital do Rego in 1906 under Prime Minister Hintze Ribeiro . In 1929 it was given its current name in honor of its founder, Professor José Curry da Câmara Cabral .
