Humeral fracture
As humerus are fractures of the humerus called.
Depending on the anatomical location of the fracture, there are large differences in terms of clinical symptoms , the treatment required and the functional result. A basic distinction is therefore made between three localizations:
- Proximal humerus fracture : fractures of the head of the humerus , the neck of the humerus ( subcapital humerus fracture ) and the transition from the neck to the shaft area.
- Humeral shaft fracture : fractures of the humeral shaft .
- Distal humerus fracture : fractures in the area of the elbow joint , i.e. fractures above ( supracondylar) or through the humerus ( condyles ) with and without direct joint involvement.
