A chest harness is a special harness for dogs and other small pets (cats, ferrets, rabbits, rats). There are different forms of harness. A typical chest harness consists of a back bar, two chest straps and a waist strap. Leather, nylon or belts lined with fleece or neoprene are used as materials.

Special harnesses for dogs are:

• Search harness or tracking harness for tracking work
• Harness for the protection service
• Car safety harness as a safety device in the car
• Hunting dishes for hunting dogs in hunting
• Rescue dog harnesses of various shapes for different work of the rescue dogs .
• Working harnesses for guide dogs and other assistance dogs .
• A special pulling harness is put on sled dogs , which optimizes the pulling power of the animals with the help of the chest strap and makes it easier for the animals to breathe. Harnesses are also used when working on the dog cart .
