Centennial Cup

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The centenary cup was an official honorary gift from the Prussian state government, which was given to Prussian citizens on reaching the age of 100 and presented with a letter of congratulations from the Prime Minister. In case of need, the award could be combined with a gift of money. The honoring of the centenarians was thus resumed after a temporary interruption by the government with a decree of the Ministry of the Interior of November 4, 1925.

The cup, made according to a design by Emil Rudolf Weiß in the Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin , showed the Prussian eagle etched in gold with a circumferential lettering "The Prussian State Government on the 100th Birthday". The initials and anniversary dates of the borrower were on the saucer.
