Hungryalism
Hungryalism (also Hungry generation ; Bengali হাংরি আন্দোলন hāṃri āndolan ; lit. "Hungry Movement") is a movement in Bengali literature.
history
This movement in art and literature originated in West Bengal in India during the period from 1961 to 1965. Its supporters claim that India is in the grip of " sarvagrass " (= combination of two Sanskrit words : Sarva means " all " and grass means " a piece") "a bite "), meaning that a culture in its waning phase feeds on bites from every other culture just to stay alive and not to " starve ". It was founded in 1961 by Malay Roy Choudhury and influenced Bengali literature to a great extent. Other founding members were Shakti Chattopadhyay, Samir Roychoudhury and Debi Ray.
