Horn concert

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A horn concert develops from the spontaneous and initially uncoordinated honking of several drivers. Horn concerts can occur in conjunction with a car parade , for example after sporting events, mostly football games, or after weddings. A horn concert can also develop from the horn as an expression of unwillingness, when individual road users perceive the flow of traffic as unnecessarily disturbed. Those not involved in the horn concert usually perceive this as unnecessary annoyance and disturbance of the peace .

Legal situation

According to the German road traffic regulations, § 16, Paragraph 1 StVO, acoustic signals may only be given in built-up areas by “ those who see themselves or others at risk ”. Since horn concerts do not usually take place in dangerous situations, they are predominantly a violation of road traffic regulations.

Furthermore, in Germany sound signals may not consist of a sequence of tones of different heights.

Anyone who gives acoustic or light signals improperly or with a sequence of different high tones can be prosecuted with a fine of 10 € (as of 2010), assuming negligent behavior, which can be increased in the case of deliberate inspection. Regardless of this, the authorities tolerate horn concerts to a limited extent in individual cases (e.g. at major events).
