Hybrid detector
In hybrid detectors, different detector principles, methods or properties are combined in one detector ( hybrid for 'bundled', 'crossed' or 'mixed').
These include, for example:
- Hybrid photodetectors for the detection of small amounts of light: Combination of photomultiplier and avalanche photodiode
- Hybrid detectors for multi-line computer tomographs : Combination of matrix detectors and adaptive detectors
- Neutrino detector of the OPERA experiment : combination of photoemulsions (passive elements) and electronic detectors (active elements)
