Commercial mix of roasted rice (70%) and green tea ( Hyeonmi nokcha )

Hyeonmicha ( Kor.  현미 차 , Hanja  玄 米 茶 , lit. "dark rice tea") is the name of a tea-like drink made with roasted brown rice in Korea .

The brown rice grains roasted after washing are available in large packs in stores. They are boiled with water and left to stand for about ten minutes. Then you sieve out the rice grains and get a drink, the color of which varies from yellow to golden brown depending on the amount of rice used. During the hot season, roasted rice tea is also very popular in chilled form. According to tradition, Hyeonmicha is said to improve blood circulation.

One variant is the Hyeonmi nokcha ( Kor.  현미 녹차 , Hanja  玄 米 緑茶 , nokcha = "green tea") mixed with green tea. This corresponds to the Japanese Genmaicha and the Vietnamese nước gạo lức rang . It is also commercially available in the form of tea bags.
