Hygrophilia
Hygrophilia (from ancient Greek ὑγρός hygrós “moist, wet” and φίλος phílos “loving”) means the preference of some plants and animals for moist locations or biotopes . So hygrophilic plants prefer z. B. Riverside. The term hygrophilicity should not be confused with hydrophilicity .
Hygrophilic animals are sometimes also referred to as humid-air animals , but this term is only used in a biology-didactic context. It is used to point out adaptations of the body structure to humid habitats, such as can be observed in amphibians and snails . The humid air animals also include earthworms.
