Malum physicum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In philosophy and theology, the term malum physicum , in contrast to malum morale, is understood to mean natural evils such as natural disasters, diseases, deformities, etc., i.e. the evils that are already given to humans and are present everywhere in nature. The concept is attributed to Augustine of Hippo . Leibniz takes it up as part of his treatment of the theodicy problem and supplements it with the malum metaphysicum and morale.
