Hyperabduction syndrome

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hyperabduktionssyndrom is a rare compression of the neurovascular road underneath the pectoralis minor muscle . It occurs especially when there is already a tightness below the coracoid process or the pectoralis minor muscle. After maximal abduction or lifting of the arm, compression of the arteria and subclavian vein as well as the brachial plexus occurs.

clinic

As a provocation test ( Adson test ), the arm is pulled backwards and held there. The radial pulse can still be felt well after 1–2 minutes. If there is a narrowing below the pectoralis minor muscle, the patient complains of radiating pain and a radial pulse can no longer be felt.
