IBrowse is a commercial web browser for the AmigaOS operating system .

history

IBrowse was created in 1994 from the Amiga port of the Mosaic browser under the name aMosaic.

In 1996 it was further developed by the now defunct company Omnipresence and marketed under the name IBrowse.

Version 2.2 was published in 1999.

In 2001 the further development was taken over by the original author Stefan Burström, who has continued to develop it since then.

The last version is 2.4 (as of December 25, 2006), a further development to version 3.0 (whereby CSS is to be supported for the first time as the most important innovation ) was planned, but has not reached the beta stage.

IBrowse was last distributed by the company IOSPIRIT. The company stopped selling Amiga software on July 1, 2007 and is now developing software for Apple products. Licenses for IBrowse can only be ordered online directly from the developer.

Technical details

The MUI application IBrowse supports HTML , HTML 4 in part, JavaScript , Flash via plug-in (beta), frames , SSL and other standards. The protocols HTTP and FTP can be used. From version 2.2 so-called tabbed browsing is supported.
