Association Sportive Montferrandaise

The Association Sportive Montferrandaise ( ASM ) is a sports club from the French city ​​of Clermont-Ferrand . It is best known for the rugby union department, which plays under the name ASM Clermont Auvergne in the top 14 French league . The basketball division was three times champion in women.

ASM was founded in 1911 by Marcel Michelin, the son of the Michelin company founder André Michelin . The club colors blue and yellow correspond to those of the Michelin group. The club changed its name slightly; the third letter of the association abbreviation ASM stands today for the Montferrand district.
