Hans Heinrich Reese (born September 17, 1891 in Kiel , † June 23, 1973 in Madison , Wisconsin , United States ) was a German football player and neurologist . He played both in the club and in the national team as a left full-back . During his athletic career, he devoted himself to the study of medicine and later became a professor in the United States.

Reese belonged to the Holstein Kiel club based in his birthplace , for which he was active from 1908 to 1923 in the championship held by the North German Football Association . He was defeated in his first season at senior level in the semi-finals yet Eintracht Braunschweig with 1: 2, he won in the following season , the 7: 1 against Werder Bremen won the final at the North German Championship, as well as the on April 23, 1911 6: 1 won against Eintracht Braunschweig. He repeated this success with his team on April 21, 1912 with the 3-2 victory - again against Eintracht Braunschweig. In 1923 he completed the Schleswig-Holstein regional league as a champion, in the final of the North German Championship he lost with his club to Hamburger SV on April 29, 1923 with 0-2. Due to the titles he won during his club membership, he also played the finals for the German championship. He played a total of nine games, where he was able to advance twice to the finals. As a player in the national team of the North German Football Association , he took part in the competition for the Crown Prince's Cup. He played his only international match on July 1 during the Olympic football tournament held in Stockholm from June 29 to July 4, 1912 . He was used in the consolation round of the highest victory of a German national team to date, the 16-0 victory against the national team of Russia .

Medical professionals and scientists
In 1917 he received his doctorate in medicine from the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . In 1924 he accepted an offer from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in the United States and worked in the field of neuropsychology , both as a researcher and as a lecturer . As a professor , he quickly built a reputation as an excellent neurologist and an effective and popular teacher. For a long time he studied the effects of various drugs and diseases on the human nervous system . In 1940 he took over the management of the neuropsychiatric department from William F. Lorenz. In 1956 he divided the two areas of psychiatry and neurology , of which he remained sole director until 1958. That year, at the age of 67 years, he also decided to board to go, who remained University , however, until his death in 1973 as a research consultant received and lecturer.
