Interest group of the cities with theater guest performances

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The community of interests of the cities with theater guest performances e. V. (INTHEGA) is a municipal umbrella organization with around 400 member cities from German-speaking countries. The members are cities and municipalities that organize their own guest performance programs on site without a permanent theater company. The INTHEGA office is based in Ludwigsburg.

Foundation, goals and cooperation

The association was founded in 1980 with the aim of focusing on regional cultural work away from the metropolises. Particular attention is paid to small and medium-sized cities and municipalities in German-speaking countries ( Germany , Austria , Switzerland ) that do not have their own theater ensemble. These members are mostly sponsors and organizers of public cultural institutions, for example cultural centers or cultural offices. The association cooperates with private touring theaters and state theaters , which are primarily considered to be providers of theater plays. INTHEGA is a member of the German Stage Association , the European Association of Event Centers , the German Theatertechnical Society and also has a seat in the German Association of Cities .

organization

The association consists of a five-person executive committee with President Dorothee Starke (Bremerhaven) as well as 10 regional or regional groups, the elected chairmen of which together form the extended executive committee. The managing director of INTHEGA is Bernward Tuchmann (Münster / Berlin), who is also a member of the executive committee of the German Stage Association. The INTHEGA office (head: Christoph Hauser) organizes, among other things, the annual conference and the theater market, the support of the editorial publications and the various collaborations with partners.

Events

The focus of the annual INTHEGA annual conference in May is on lectures, discussions and workshops on topics from the guest theater industry and its future in the context of cultural, political and social development. The conference offers time and space for an intensive professional dialogue and a collegial exchange with many actors and those responsible from culture.

At the INTHEGA theater market in October every year, providers of touring theater productions present their offers to the organizers of cultural programs. Suppliers of ticket sales systems, event technology, event software and stage technology are also represented as exhibitors. The INTHEGA theater market is the leading trade fair for German-language touring theater .

In addition, the INTHEGA prizes will be awarded at this event. At the end of a season, the voting results of the members in the form of a substantiating certificate distinguish three productions that have stood out artistically through individual and overall performances. The board of directors can award a special prize for special individual achievements. Since 2009 he has also been awarding this for remarkable children's and youth theater.

Publications

The association publishes several publications:

  • The program journal appears twice a year for the INTHEGA annual conference or for the INTHEGA theater market, with games offered by touring theaters and guest performance directors.
  • The Kultur-Journal (four times a year) publishes news, current topics, reviews of the conferences, interviews and other important information.
