The IPE 03 was a motor sailer from the Brazilian manufacturer Industria Paranaense de Estruturas (IPE) .

history

In 1983, the shortage of tow planes was a serious problem for Brazilian glider pilots. The aviation enthusiasts and the authorities (Departamento de Aviação Civil) therefore considered that the most economical solution would be motor gliders . As a result, IPE began building a two-seater school motor glider, the IPE 03, in 1984 . The machine should perform satisfactorily in both areas (glider and powered flight). As has been known, that the Departamento de Aviação Civil for financing of Aeromot produced under license Aeromot AMT 100 Ximango had decided the work was stopped on almost finished prototype.

construction

The machine was designed as a low-wing aircraft and had a fixed tail wheel landing gear and a two-seater cockpit with seats next to each other. The fuselage and wings consisted of a wooden frame construction that was planked with plywood and fiberglass. The wings can be folded back for transport or to save space. The machine was to be powered by a VW engine made in the country.
