The Church of Light is one of the most famous works by the Japanese architect Tadao Ando and was built between 1987 and 1989.

architecture

The relatively small church building consists of a concrete cube with a side length of 5.9 meters wide, 17.7 meters long and 5.9 meters high.

The building is characterized by a minimalist reduction. The church interior is in the dark. What is striking is the cross shape cut into the concrete of the altar wall. In the morning, the light from the east falls through this gap into the interior.
