Identification point

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In logistics, the identification point (I point) is usually a specific point in the incoming goods area of warehouses, which is used for goods control and management. When passing the I-point, certain information about the goods to be stored (for example type of goods, article number, quantity, weight, etc.) is recorded by sensors or scanners. This information is then used by the warehouse management system to determine the optimal storage location for the goods and to update the inventory file.
